Afternoon Announcements

  • The final phase of renovation will take place over the summer at SOMS and everything must be removed from the building, down to the last staple!  Because of this, we are in dire need of packing boxes.  We cannot put more than 50 pounds in each box, so they can't be too big.  If you have access to any, please drop off in the office.  Thank you!!!

  • Oldham County Project Graduation (OCPG) is a community event for all Oldham County Schools 2016 graduates. You do not need to be a senior parent to volunteer, the earlier you get involved the better informed you are as to what OCPG is all about.  This year it will be held at North Oldham High School on the night of June 4th, 2016, from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am June 5th.  We are in need of way too many volunteer positions for the night of the event.  Please consider giving your time, to sign up go to our SignUpGenius link:  If you would like to make a donation you can review their SignUpGenius link: or monetary donations can be sent to  PO Box 104, Buckner, Ky 40010.  Thank you for your support!

  • Dear SOMS Families:

It may feel like this school year is far from over, but it is already time to plan for the 2016-2017 school year!  Our school is in desperate need of various parents to step up and take on leadership roles on the PTSA board immediately.  There is a distinct possibility at this point that there will not be enough help to run the SOMS PTSA next year, unless more people volunteer NOW to be on next year’s board.  For additional information, please click here.

This school year, starting on January 4th, South Oldham Middle will be participating in the Water Step program, an organization that reaches out to developing countries by teaching people how to use safe water solutions like water purification, health education, and well repair. Currently 748 million people live without access to clean water. That's one in every 10 people.  Help reduce this overwhelming number by donating any pair of new or gently used shoes to a SOMS drop-site located at the front doors of the school.  This is sponsored by the Leadership and Service Learning group at SOMS.

REMINDERWe are still collecting caps for benches to surround our wetlands area, HOWEVER, we are preparing to take the last load of this school year to Evansville to the processing plant and, due to construction, will not be able to house any more caps on site until after we settle in to our brand new building in the fall.  We hope that you continue to collect for us, but hang on to them and bring them back once school opens in August.  Thank you for your understanding!

Please visit the following website for information regarding what is okay and what is not, along with a lot more!

We are excited to announce the next phase of our Extended School Services Program (ESS), Dragon Den. Click Here for Information.

SUPPORT SOMS! - Parents this is a reminder that there are two ways you can help support SOMS if you shop on Amazon:

1. Go to the SOMS website and click on the Amazon banner to the right of the screen. This is a special link that allows the school to receive up to 5% of the total price for qualifying purchases.

You must use this link to have SOMS get credit. I just bookmark the link and click it whenever I want to shop.
• You must complete your purchase within 48 hrs. If you do not, you will need to re-click the link.
• You have to choose this link every time you shop, it won't save it for you

2. Google search Amazon Smile program

This is a very simple program in which you would choose SOMS as your charity of choice.  Once you have done this, every time you shop on Amazon SOMS will receive 1% of your purchase total. No need to search every time, it will remember you. And if you do end up on the traditional Amazon site somehow, a prompt will come up asking if you would like to be transferred to Smile as a reminder

If you have any questions feel free to email
